Identify the claim
Ask exactly what ownership provides. Is there a contractual claim, access to a service, participation in a protocol, or only the ability to transfer a token? Marketing language and legal rights are not interchangeable. Read the underlying documents and identify missing information.
Map custody and dependencies
Document who controls access, how transactions are authorized, and what recovery options exist. A research map can include exchanges, wallets, software, issuers, and other counterparties. Each dependency is a separate question, not evidence of safety.
Examine stressed conditions
Ask what would happen if a trading venue stopped withdrawals, a market lost liquidity, or a technical failure prevented access. Published trading activity does not by itself establish that an exit will be available in a stressed market.
Treat uncertainty as a finding
If ownership rights, valuation, or protections cannot be established, state that explicitly. Digital assets can involve substantial volatility and the possibility of total loss. This article does not evaluate a token, endorse a platform, or recommend allocating money to the sector.
